The Change Starts Now!

Ignite Your Fire: The Power of Goal Setting

“We are magnificent beings, capable of achieving anything we set our hearts and minds to. Once you convince your heart and mind that you are capable, there’s no stopping you.” – Kylie Captain

Goal setting has always been a passion of mine. There’s something electrifying about having a dream to chase, whether it’s personal growth or a material achievement. It gives me that fire in my belly, propelling me forward, even when things get tough. When challenges arise, I remind myself to stay positive, focused, and anchored to my goals. Goals are what keep my dreams alive.

One story that deeply inspires me is my son Tyrell’s journey. At just 17 years old and in his final year of school, Tyrell decided to take on an extraordinary challenge: the Wimp to Warrior Mixed Martial Arts program. It was a six-month commitment that required him to train every morning at 5am before heading to school.

When he first asked if he could participate, I was hesitant. Balancing this level of commitment with his HSC studies seemed daunting, and as a parent, I was concerned. But Tyrell was determined. He set his sights on a goal that fueled his spirit. Tyrell completed the program without missing a single day.

Tyrell’s story is inspiration and testament to his mindset. When writing down his big goal, he wrote in his journal as if he had already achieved it:

“I’m so happy that I’ve just completed this program. I went every single day for six months with zero days off.”

Every morning, while most people were still asleep, Tyrell was up, training and pushing himself towards his dream. Their motto was “while we were sleeping”. It was a powerful reminder that progress comes from dedication, even when it’s hard.

Tyrell’s journey taught me an important lesson: we all have this same dedication and commitment within us. We just need to ignite the fire. It starts with setting your intention, being clear about your goals, and taking those first steps.

What’s Your Ultimate Goal?

If there were absolutely no way of failing, what would you dream of achieving?

No write it down, whether that be in a journal, on your computer, or on your phone. Be specific. Imagine your goal as if it’s already accomplished. Describe how it feels, what it looks like, and what it means to you.

For example:

“I’m so happy and proud that I’ve gone six months without a cigarette—it feels amazing to take control of my health.” or “I’ve been saving consistently and now I can finally afford the deposit for my new home.”

The key is to feel the emotions of success as you write to clarify your goals and make them real.

Commit to Your Dreams

Setting your intention is just the beginning. Achieving your goals requires action, consistency, and self-belief. There will be challenges along the way, but remember this: the only person who can stop you is you.

To help you stay on track, I’ve created a 30-Day Goal-Setting Guide, a practical tool to help you turn your dreams into reality. You can find it on my website, and it’s designed to take your daily practice to the next level.

Let’s Thrive Together in 2025

Imagine where you could be six months from now, a year from now, or even five years from now if you started today. The time to act is now. The dreams you have are yours for a reason, and with dedication, intention, and belief, you will achieve them.

Let’s ignite that fire and make 2025 the year we thrive!
